Pro-Kannada organisations call for classical tag

Correspondent

CHAMARAJANAGAR: The members of the Zilla Kannada Sanghatana Okkuta staged a demonstration and burnt effigy of Tamil Nadu in protest against the Union Government’s step-motherly attitude and Tamil Nadu Government’s intervention not to accord classical tag to Kannada. Addressing protesters, the president of the okkuta, Sha. Murali, alleged that the Union Government was giving step-motherly treatment to Karnataka, thanks to the pressure tactics of the Tamil Nadu Government. He strongly criticised the anti-Kannadigas for the petition filed in court against the interest of the State. Leaders of various pro-Kannada organisations urged the Union Government to accord classical tag to Kannada language.
