MEG and Air Force score wins
NEW DELHI: MEG Bangalore defeated Assam Regiment 7-6 via sudden-death in the qualifying round of the Durand Cup football tournament at Ambedkar Stadium here on Tuesday.
The teams were locked 1-1 at the end of regulation time after Sartha Singh scored for MEG and Assam Regiment equalised through Lalthujwala.
In the ’breaker, Nigil Raj, Gurumurthy, Sartha Singh, V. Ramu and Shiyadas scored in that order for MEG.
Assam kept pace with V. Horin, L. Angam, Lalthujwala, Thanta Singh and Jrawar Chiru. In the sudden death, Thanji Singh scored for MEG while Assam missed.
In another match, Air Force XI defeated 11 GR, Lucknow by a goal scored by W.P. Singh.
