Triumphant squad: The victorious Cethar Vessels Private Limited team of the ‘Cricket for fellowship’ tournament in Tiruchi. — TIRUCHI: The Tiruchi zone of the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) found common ground through cricket to promote fellowship among its members. The two-day ‘Cricket for Fellowship,’ which concluded here on Sunday, attracted nine corporate cricket teams from the Tiruchi region. Away from the routineFor the participants, the 20-overs-a-side tennis ball tourney proved a welcome break from their hectic work schedules. “We have been planning to conduct the tournament for quite sometime now. We believe such events would bring the members closer as it provides an opportunity for them to know each other. We are planning to make the tournament an annual affair,” said the chairman of the tournament B.V. Ramanan. Cethar Vessels Private Limited defeated Vishnuram Textiles Limited in the finals. Prakash of Vishnuram Textiles Limited was adjudged Man of the Tournament and Ranjith of the winning team bagged the Man of the Finals award. Facilities to come“Tiruchi is fast developing in various fields. As far as the infrastructure facilities for sports is concerned, the district will be getting a high altitude training centre and astro-turf for the hockey ground at Anna Stadium. These facilities would be of immense help to the sportspersons of Tiruchi,” said the District Collector T. Soundiah. Mr. Soundiah gave away the prizes in the presence of Chairman, CII Tiruchi zone, Senthil Annamalai, TiruchiDistrict Cricket Association president M. Kalidas and secretary K.G. Muralidharan.
