WELCOME: Bharatiya Janshakti Party’s State General Secretary Bhagwan Das Sabnani being welcomed by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan after he joined the Bharatiya Janta Party in Bhopal on Tuesday. BHOPAL: The Uma Bharti-led Bharatiya Janshakti received a major jolt when its General Secretary, Bhagwandas Sabnani, along with over 100 party workers, rejoined Bharatiya Janata Party in the presence of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan in the State capital on Tuesday. Mr. Sabnani was welcomed into the party-fold by Mr. Chauhan at his residence on Tuesday afternoon. Present on this occasion were State BJP president Narendra Singh Tomar, state party general secretary in-charge of organisational affairs Makhan Singh, State Minister Gauri Shankar Shejwar and other party functionaries. On the occasion, Mr. Chauhan said that those in the BJP had never distanced themselves from Mr. Sabnani. Stating that he would add to the party’s strength, Mr. Chauhan said that the BJP would win the State Assembly election as well as the next Parliamentary election. When asked to spell out the reason for leaving the Bharatiya Janshakti, Mr. Sabnani summed up his return to the BJP-fold as “homecoming”. He refused to say anything further. Mr. Sabnani had contested unsuccessfully against the present city Mayor Sunil Sood of Congress party in November 2004. Ms. Bharti was away on tour and not available for comments.
