Housing societies meet

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A State-level meeting of the presidents of primary housing cooperative societies held here has sought urgent government intervention to bail them out of the financial crisis. As many as 130 representatives attended the meeting organised by the Kerala State Cooperative Union here on Monday. The meeting demanded the government to end the delay in disbursing loans through the societies, provide cash-credit facility through Housing Federation, raise the margin of cooperative societies to 2.5 per cent, reschedule the loans of cooperative societies, reduce auditing fees and entrust the societies with the implementation of housing schemes.

Union chairman E. Narayanan inaugurated the meeting. Additional Registrar P.A. Subash welcomed the gathering. Housefed chairman O.P. Moideen and union general manager R. Madhusudanan Nair spoke. — Special Correspondent
