Attraction: Sugarcane juice being sold from a Cano-O-La mobile kiosk in Bangalore on Tuesday. BANGALORE: Think of an outlet providing a desi thirst quencher and a grimy machine squeezing juice into dirty glasses comes to mind. But now things are changing in this segment. Thanks to new technology, sugarcane juice will be available with no loss of flavour or hygiene. CostComing under the brand name Cane-O-La, the juice will soon be up for sale in all areas of the city, said company head G. Srinivas Rao. “It will be a couple of rupees more than that charged by vendors with traditional carts, but considering the advantages of hygiene and value addition it is a steal,” he said. A push-cart model would be launched later, Mr. Rao said. The juice is now available in six flavours: plain, mint, lime, ginger, salt and pepper and chaat masala. He said the ice was prepared with water that has undergone reverse osmosis and that the sugarcane was also refrigerated Mr. Rao said this new machine would attract more consumers as the kiosks looked truly “groovy”. People hooked onto aerated drinks could consider making sugarcane juice their regular thirst quencher, he added. The Cano-O-La launched its mobile kiosk mounted on an electric golf cart at the city railway station on Tuesday.
