GUNTUR: A network of non-governmental organisations in Guntur and Prakasam districts has come forward to support the movement started by National Alliance for People’s Movement (NAPM) to oppose the acquisition of lands for setting up of Special Economic Zones and Coastal Corridor in the name of industrialisation without considering the harm it would inflict on environment. A meeting of the NAPM with stake-holders and network of NGOs in East Godavari and Visakhpatnam districts was held on August 8 in Visakhapatnam to discuss these issues related to the first phase of the Coastal Corridor and some decisions were taken, according to a release of the network of NGOs here on Tuesday. "We propose to replicate the agitational programmes in Guntur and Prakasam districts on the lines of Visakhapatnam initive," said network convenor D. Sai Babu. CampaignThe meeting was called for in continuance of a campaign against the Coastal Industrial Corridor, he said.
