Fresh violence near Nandigram

Special Correspondent

Kolkata: Fresh violence involving supporters of the Trinamool Congress-backed Bhumi Ucched Pratirodh (Resistance against Eviction from Land) Committee (BUPC) and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) erupted in areas adjoining Nandigram in West Bengal’s Purbo Medinipur district on Tuesday.

The trouble caused a setback to the peace process initiated by local leaders of different political parties following the recent spurt in violence.

The police convened another round of meetings at Khejuri to ease animosities.
