Staff Reporter

IN APPRECIATION: Kathakali experts Jayasree Ravindran and Kottakkal Kesavan Namboothiri leading an appreciation workshop for students at A.U.P School Malappuram

MALAPPURAM: About 500 select students from different schools in the district attended a Kathakali appreciation workshop held under the aegis of the Vidyarangam Kalasahitya Vedi at A.U.P. School here.

Although many of the students who attended the workshop had watched a Kathakali perfomance before this, the workshop gave them a raw and enriching experience in various aspects of the traditional art form of Kerala.

Simple form

Different aspects of Kathakali such as its costumes, steps, signs and words used and exercise that have to be undertaken were presented to the students in a simple form.

Kathakali experts Kottakkal Kesavan Namboothiri, Manoj Pulloor, and Jayasree Ravindran led the workshop. Malappuram sub-district Education Officer K. Yousuf inaugurated the workshop. Convener K.V. Sayed Hashim presided over the function.
