Dispossession of land: interim order extended

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court on Wednesday extended an interim order it had granted earlier directing the KIADB authorities not to dispossess lands belonging to farmers of Jala hobli in Bangalore north taluk.

Justice Huluvadi G. Ramesh passed the order on petitions by B. Anjanappa, G. Aruna and several others, all residents of Jakkur, Yelahanka and Jala hobli.

The petitioners said they are all farmers and they had urged the court to stay a notification by the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) proposing to acquire agricultural lands for industrial purposes in several villages of the hobli, including Bandi Kodigehalli, Singehalli, Arebannimangala and Gollahalli.

The court adjourned further hearing on the case.
