Chandigarh: Condemning the police action against BJP workers, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Wednesday said that the Chandigarh administration run against the basic norms of democratic functioning. Mr. Badal was referring to the use of force by police against BJP activists on Monday, Tuesday and on Wednesday while they were protesting against the Amarnath land row. The Chief Minister called upon the Administrator of UT Administration General (Retd.) S.F.Rodrigues to immediately convene a meeting of civil and police officers to direct them to exercise restraint while dealing such peaceful demonstrations. Mr. Badal reiterated that to lodge a peaceful protest was the right of every citizen.-PTI
