Chitradurga: To spread awareness on the need for solid waste management and cleaning, the district administration will hold various competitive programmes in schools and colleges here. In a press release here on Wednesday, Deputy Commissioner Amlan Aditya Biswas said two students from each schools and college would be selected to participate in the competitions. The competitions would be held in three categories. For students of standards five to seven, a painting competition would be held on the theme “My dream city and let’s keep the city clean.” An essay competition would be held for students between standards eight and ten on “Solid waste management,” while for college students, an elocution competition would be held. The winner of the painting competition will get a cash award of Rs. 2,000, while the winner of the essay competition will get Rs. 3,000. A sum of Rs. 5,000 will be given to the one who wins the elocution competition, in addition to a rolling trophy. The events will be held between September 22 and October 20. Prizes will be given on Rajyotsava Day.
