Three-day flower show from tomorrow

DAVANGERE: The district administration is making arrangements for the flower show and nursery fair to be held at the horticulture office here from August 15.

Parashivamurthy, Deputy Director of Horticulture, Davangere, told presspersons here on Wednesday that over 20 varieties of rare flowers, including dried ones, would be on display during the three-day fair.

Flowers from Udhagamandalam, Nandi Hills in Chickballapur district and many others from various places had already arrived here.

“Flower arrangement is an art and, to guide people, the Horticulture Department is making efforts to showcase various varieties.

S. Ashwath, Joint Director of Horticulture, Bangalore, is also supervising the arrangements,” he said.

A team from Udhagamandalam was assisting the department in organising the event, Mr. Parashivamurthy said. The departments of Agriculture, Horticulture, Watershed Development, Sericulture and Veterinary Science, and the Karnataka Milk Federation would put up stalls at the fair. Various agricultural and horticultural tool-manufacturing companies would also set up stalls at the venue.

S.A. Ravindranath, Minister for Agriculture and Davangere district in-charge, will inaugurate the show.
