Patna: An alert has been sounded across Bihar in the wake of boycott call of official functions by the banned ultra-left organisations on Independence Day. “All police stations have been put on high alert and patrolling has been further intensified throughout Bihar, particularly in the naxal-infested districts that include Gaya, Jehanabad, Nawada, Bhojpur, Patna, West and East Champaran, Rohtas and Aurangabad,” Inspector General (Operation) S.K. Bhardwaj said. He added that Superintendents of police have been asked to keep a close watch on the movement of naxalites belonging to the proscribed CPI (Maoist) and other ultra-left outfits. The main function of the Independence Day would be organised at historic Gandhi Maidan in the Capital with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar unfurling the flag. – PTI
