Subsidised rice for all eligible sought

KORAPUT: The Koraput Adivasi Manch plans not to allow holding of gram sabha on August 15 this year in villages in the district if the State Government does not come up with some mechanism to reach the Rs. 2-a-kg rice scheme to the grassroots level, Dinu Hikoka, secretary, said. There were many needy people in rural areas who were not receiving the rice at subsidised price, he said.

Madhu Kirsani, father of Madan Kirsani, was covered under the BPL category and received its benefits till he died.

But once Madan got married and was separated from the family, he was deprived of the provisions.The problem could be sorted out if NRGEA cards were considered, it was said.
