Students surrender seats

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: Twenty-nine of the 40 students who opted for the Ambedkar Medical College (AMC) in the first round of the COMED-K counselling surrendered their seats in the casual vacancy round here on Thursday.

Following this, other medical seat aspirants protested when the consortium refused to re-allot them. However, unlike its government counterpart, COMED-K is cautious and got students to sign an undertaking in the first round. “The MCI has instructed us to not allot seats. Parents may want to take the risk; but we don’t want to misguide students,” COMED-K secretary S. Kumar explained.

“We are willing to take the risk, so why should my niece be denied the opportunity? AMC is a 30-year-old college,” said Eshwar A., a guardian.
