THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Unseeded Harish Ramakrishnan upset second seed Mohammed Yunus 6-3, 6-3 to move into the boys’ under-16 semifinals of the Nutking-AITA tennis tournament at the TTC courts on Thursday. There were no alarms for the top-seeded Karan who defeated Praveen Raj 6-4, 7-5 to enter the semifinals of the same event. However, Yunus moved into the semifinals in the boy’s under-14 section after thrashing Nikhil Reddy 6-1, 6-1. In girls’ section, the progression of seeds were orderly as the semifinalists were spotted in both under-14 and under-16 sections respectively. The results (quarterfinals): Boys: U-16: S. Karan bt Praveen Raj 6-4, 7-5; Rithwik Anand bt Jude Raymond 1-6, 7-6, 6-3; Monish Rajer bt Sai Reddy 6-4, 6-2; Harish Ramakrishnan bt Mohammed Yunus 6-3, 6-3. U-14: Mohammed Yunus bt Nikhil Reddy 6-1, 6-1; Rithwik Anand bt B. Supreeth 6-0, 6-0. Girls: U-16: K. Bhuvana bt S.S. Deepika 6-1, 6-1; Iska Akshara bt Sneha Susan Thomas 7-6, 6-1; Neena Reddy bt Swetha Sreehari 7-6, 6-3, Sai Samhitha bt Lavanya Saravan 6-1, 6-3.
