A clarification

In the report ‘DTH: bigger players ready to take a plunge’ that appeared in these columns on August 10, Mr. Salil Kapoor, Chief Executive Officer of a Dishtv would like to clarify the following:

“The delivered picture quality remains the same for both MPEG2 and MPEG4 and it has no impact on the viewing quality of the end viewer. The advantage of MPEG4 technology over MPEG2 technology is that the former allows a broadcaster to compress more channels on the transponder.”
