Tribals taught bamboo crafts

Staff Reporter

ADILABAD: The Forest Department has brought the bamboo crafts activity back to life here with 15 tribals getting trained in the craft under master craftsman Kiran Gedam from Khamana in Wankidi mandal.

The tribals will undergo training in making of items for use in daily life such as cell phone stand, pen stand and items of decoration like peacocks and other birds.

At present, the three family members of Kiran are busy weaving the replica of AP State Legislative building with thin and flat bamboo strands. This replica will be put up for exhibition with a lot of other items made of bamboo at the stall during the official Independence Day celebrations at the Police Parade Grounds on Friday.
