19 police officers have been chosen for the Independence Day medals Bangalore: Additional Director-General of Police (Law and Order) A.R. Infant and Inspector-General of Police (Intelligence) B.G. Jyothiprakash Mirji are among the 19 police officers who have been chosen for the Independence Day medals for 2008. Mr. Infant, Mr. Mirji and Inspector-General of Police T. Jayaprakash will get the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service. Deputy Superintendent of Police (Corps of Detectives) G.R. Patil will get the Police Medal for Gallantry. Those selected for the Police Medal for Meritorious Service are Deputy Inspectors-General of Police B. Bhaskar Rao, Sunil Agarwal, Prashant Kumar Thakur, A.S.N. Murthy and N. Shivakumar; Assistant Commissioner of Police Ramesh Chandra Nagaraja Rao; Deputy Superintendents of Police P. Venkataswamy, Rudrappa Hanumanthappa, Narayanareddy Lingareddy, George Joy D’ Souza, Deen Dayalu Shanmugham and B. Parameshwarappa; Superintendent of Police Andal Raju Iyengar; inspector R. Venkatesh and head constable H.V. Hire Gowda. Fire ServiceThe President’s Fire Service Medals for Distinguished Service will be given to Deputy Director D. Rasheed; Chief Fire Officers N.U. Erappa and H.S. Varadarajan; Regional Fire Officer P.G. Raju; and District Fire Officer K. Narayanswamy. Those chosen for the President’s Fire Service Medals for Meritorious Service include Fire Station Officers M.C. Rangaswamaiah and Khaja Sirajjuddin; Assistant Fire Station Officers B.A. Dasoji, Shivakundar and B.H. Krishnamurthy; and Leading Fireman K. Gurumallaiah. The President’s Medal for Distinguished Service, Home Guards and Civil Defence, will be given to S.K. Mohi. The President’s Medal for Meritorious Service, Home Guards and Civil Defence, will be given to Somanagowda Mare Gowda Patil, R.K. Srinivasa, Suresh Dhanjaya Paschapur, Laxman Shivappa Ambali, Imtiaz Ahmed, Mallappa, Abdul Quyam and Venkatappa Lokanatha.
