TSR Kalapeetham awards announced

HYDERABAD: Eminent Carnatic music vocalist Mangalampalli Balamuralikrishna, playback singer S. Janaki, actress of yesteryear Jamuna and comedian Brahmanandam have been selected for T. Subbarami Reddy Kalapeetham Awards-2008.

The awards would be presented at Visakhapatnam on September 17 on the occasion of the birthday of T. Subbarami Reddy, MP. Announcing the awards which were instituted by TSR Foundation at a press conference here on Thursday, Jnanpeeth awardee C. Narayana Reddy and Mr. Subbarami Reddy said Mr. Balamuralikrishna would be presented with ‘TSR National Integration Award’, while Ms. Janaki would receive ‘Sangeetha Saraswati Award’. Ms. Jamuna would be given ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ and Brahmanandam, who entered Guinness Book, would be getting ‘Visishta Kalakar Award’.

Union Minister Ambika Soni would be the chief guest. A galaxy of personalities from different fields, would attend.

Mr. Subbarami Reddy said he would pledge his eyes.
