INDIA FOCUS: Yoshiki Yamanokuchi, Division Head, Sony India, unveiling the new Bravia series of LCD television sets at a national launch in Kochi on Thursday. KOCHI: Sony India on Thursday launched the Bravia series, the LCD television range, which boasts high quality images with powerful side speakers. Available in three models, the Series T models are designed especially for the Indian market, after a consumer research undertaken last year. The price ranges from Rs. 17,900 to Rs. 29,900. Speaking at the official national launch here, Masaru Tamagawa, the new Managing Director of the company, pointed out that Sony India targeted to mop up sales of Rs. 75 crore during the next one month from Kerala during the Onam festival season. Last year, the company’s turnover during this period was Rs. 50 crore, he said. Sony will be selling nearly 10,000 television sets, a major portion of them being the LCD category. The company, with a turnover of Rs. 3,000 crore last year, clocked a growth of 41 per cent this year and in spite of inflation and deceleration in the economy, television sets and other consumer goods of the company continued to be in demand, he said. He flagged off a roadshow to popularise the Bravia series in 150 towns in Kerala.
