Jawan killed, another injured in Maoist attack
Medninagar (Jharkhand): A Jharkhand armed police jawan was killed and a sub-inspector injured when suspected Maoists fired at them at Chak in Palamu district on Thursday, the eve of Independence day.
Three motorcycle-borne ultras fired from AK-47 rifles and nine mm pistol at six jawans, including sub-inspector Sunil Chetri, about 2 km from the Chak picket, the Superintendent of Police, Deepak Verma, said. A jawan, Ramesh Chetri, hailing from Padma in Nepal, was killed after being hit by six bullets, while Mr. Chetri suffered a bullet injury in the hip. — PTI
