Woman murdered

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: A 36-year-old woman was murdered when she was alone in her house in Yelahanka on Thursday and her gold chains, ear rings and Rs. 10,000 in cash are missing.

The victim, Laxmi (36), was married to Lingareddy, a Railways inspector, and had two children. Lingareddy left for work in the morning and the couple’s daughters, one 12 and the other nine, went to their nearby school.

When they returned home, the children found the door open and their mother dead. Neighbours called the police and Mr. Lingareddy.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-East) Basavaraj Malagatti said Ms. Laxmi was strangulated by two persons by using old pillow covers.

“She had removed the covers in the morning,” he said. There were no other external injuries on her body, he added.

The police suspect Lingareddy’s relative Ramu, a resident of Gowribidanur as a neighbour saw him enter the house along with another man around 11 a.m.,” Mr. Malagatti said.
