MALAPPURAM: The Muslim Students Federation (MSF) celebrated Independence Day on Friday by organising an ‘awakening assembly’ here. The organisers said the programme was aimed at bringing about an awakening among the youth, particularly students, about patriotism. M. Ummer, MLA; Panakkad Sayed Sadiqali Shihab Thangal, former president of the Muslim Youth League; M.A. Samad, MSF State general secretary; KiliyamannilYakoob, Malappuram Municipal Chairman; P. Ubaidulla, Indian Union Muslim League’s Malappuram constituency president; and V.K.M. Shafi, MSF district president, addressed the 1,000-odd students who gathered here on Friday evening holding miniature national flags. MSF leader Rahmatulla Elambilikkatt administered the oath of awakening to the students.
