Tungabhadra crosses danger mark

KUROOL: Tungabhadra river crossed the danger mark at Mantralayam with the flood peaking to 2.10 lakh cusecs on Friday. The flood level crossed 312 metre causing alarm among the residents of river bank villages. The TB dam at Hospet which received 2.22 lakh cusecs discharged a huge quantity of flood into the river. The flood water submerged the fields along the bank in Kurnool and Mahabub Nagar districts. Thousands of agriculture pumpsets were inundated.

Meanwhile, the level in the Srisailam reservoir jumped to 859.60 ft today with the inflow rising to 4.85 lakh cusecs. The outflow from the reservoi was restricted to 6,922 cusecs. The full reservoir level of Srisailam is 885 ft. The same volume of flood is expected to flow into Srisailam for the next few days.
