NHPC pays record dividend

NEW DELHI: The National Hydroelectric Power Corporation has paid the highest ever dividend of Rs.300 crore for the year 2007-08 to the Union Government as against Rs. 278 crore of the previous year.

Of the Rs.300 crore dividend paid for 2007-08, an interim dividend of Rs.100 crore was paid to the Government in January. The cheque for the balance amount of Rs. 200 crore was presented to Union Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde by Chairman and Managing Director NHPC S.K. Garg here earlier this week.
