Central team to visit Kodagi
Special Correspondent
SHIMOGA: Karnataka Minister for Energy K.S. Eshwarappa said here on Friday that a Central team would visit Kodagi in Bijapur district on August 24 and 25 to study the feasibility of setting up a 4,000 MW thermal power plant there.
Addressing a press conference at the Nehru Stadium after addressing the Independence Day gathering, Mr. Eshwarappa said Kodagi had been found feasible for the plant as it did not pose any infrastructure problem. He said coal mining could be taken up in the 4,000-acre government land while 4 tmcft of water required for the power plant could be lifted from the nearby Alamatti Dam. He said it was possible to get 40,000 tonnes of coal transported from the Goa port.
