This refers to the Union Cabinet’s approval of the Sixth Pay Commission’s recommendations for Central government employees. We need to have a law that says that pay revisions of government employees can be announced only when there are at least two years to go for the general elections. This will ensure that the common man is not burdened by the expediency of electoral compulsions. K. Chandrasekar, Chennai Soon, employees of the State governments will start clamouring for similar salary benefits which will be conceded under duress. It appears that nobody, except government, IT and MNC employees have the right to live comfortably. N.K. Das Gupta, Kolkata
