Yashas in lead

MANGALORE: Yashas of Sandeepini English HS (Shimoga) emerged the sole leader at the end of the eighth round of the FIDE-rated Karnataka State sub-juniors’ open chess championship here on Friday.

The results: Boys (eighth round): Antonio Vaini D’Cunha (6) drew with D. Yashas (7), Gahan (6.5) bt Navalgund Niranjan (6), Balkishan (5) lost to Kiran (6), Anantharam (6) bt Sharan Rao (5), Prajwal P. Salian (5) lost to Shreeshan (6), Rakshith R. Umesh (4.5) lost to Nihal Manjunath (5.5), Vigram (5) drew with Suraj Prabhu (5), Vetrievel (4) lost to Sanjith Shenoy (5.5), Shah Rukh Sait (4) lost to Karthik (5), Megharaj (5) lost to Edgar Antony (5).

Girls (fourth round): Nisha N. Patkar (3.5) drew with Vanessa D’Souza (2.5), Shalon Joanne Pais (3) drew with Gangamma (3), Pavitra Jagtap (2.5) lost to Andria L. D’Souza (3), Raksha (2) lost to Bhargavi Alva (3), Chrisel Ann Pais (3) bt Krupa Jain (2).
