HYDERABAD: High Court Chief Justice Anil R. Dave has said that the orders of courts would be issued to the litigant public within two-three hours of the pronouncement of the judgment, from next month. Litigants would be handed over a correct reproduction of the order, he told a meeting organised to mark the Independence Day celebrations. Justice Dave expressed dismay that a lengthy procedure was being adopted in serving the orders. He got to know of the delay when lawyers, appearing in cases before him, prayed “copy within a week” after the judgment was delivered. Initially, he was at a loss to understand what the prayer meant. Quick deliveryOn concurring with a judge, T. Meena Kumari, who shared the bench with him once, Justice Dave said he learnt of the problem. He promised to implement quick delivery of orders after altering the procedures and updating computer software. The Chief Justice also expressed his displeasure at the “clumsy” practices followed in making applications to the court in a bunch. The applicants filed the affidavits and prayers separately. “Why cannot a comprehensive application be made?” he asked. Advocate-General C.V. Mohan Reddy said docket burden was a challenge to the judicial system. A. Narasimha Reddy, chairman, State Bar Council, stressed collective responsibility of the bench and bar to overcome criticism against the judiciary.
