Community feast at temple

MADURAI: More than 1,000 people took part in a community feast organised at Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple here on Friday to mark the Independence Day.

Collector S. S. Jawahar took part in the feast along with trustees of the templeM. Balasubramanian and S. Rajaram.

Special pujas were performed. K. Rajanayagam, Joint Commissioner, Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department and Executive Officer of the temple; Mayor G. Thenmozhi; Madurai East MLA N. Nanmaran; and Madurai Central MLA S.S. Ghouse Basha participated.
