Learning science is fun now

Correspondent

CUTTACK: Studying science with practical experiments makes it very easy to understand the intricacies of the subjects. Practical periods often turn out to be boring also. But if the science experiments are done in a bit fun and playful manner, it becomes doubly interesting and the young minds learn the chapters of science in a better way.

Emphasising on these aspects, the authorities of DAV Public School here have set up a science park inside the school premises, which was inaugurated on the occasion of Independence Day on Friday. “The park is perhaps the first of its kind set up in any of the educational institutions in the state”, said Dr H K Mohanty, the regional director of DAV institutions.

The park is aptly named after late N.D.Grover, the founder of the DAV institutions in the country who has set up more than 200 schools across the country, said the school principal L N Pradhan. The school also named its new academic block after the visionary educationist after getting permission from the central management committee as Grover during his lifetime did not allow any of the educational institutions set up by him to be named after him, the principal added.

Unique park

The science park, unique of its kind in the Cuttack district has 31 fun experiments dealing with all key branches of science. “The students can now learn in a playful manner how energy is converted into various forms, learning the difference between mass and weight, studying about projectile, gyroscope, hydroelectric power, centrifugal force and velocity of sound by visiting the park”, said a school science teacher.

The park too has a rain gauge to teach students how the rainfall is measured while the DNA model, periodic table model, world time model here would make them learn their lessons easily .
