State Congress coordination committee reconstituted

NEW DELHI: Congress President Sonia Gandhi has done away with the post of the chairman in the newly constituted Coordination Committee for the Orissa Pradesh Congress Committee.

The post was held by former Chief Minister and leader of the Congress Legislature Party J.B. Patnaik, who will now be a member.

The AICC in charge of Orissa Ajay Maken was appointed the convenor of the newly constituted 18-member Committee.

Some of the prominent members of the new committee are Pawan Singh Ghatowar, Giridhar Gomang, K.P. Singhdeo, Hemanand Biswal, K.C. Lenka, Srikant Jena, Sarat Patnaik, Sushila Tiriya, Dlip Ray, Matlub Ali, Nalini Mohanty, Chandrashekhar Sahu and Bhakta Charan Das.

The reconstitution of the panel comes in the wake of revocation of suspension of over 80 party members on Wednesday and ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

The Congress has been out of power in the State for nearly 10 years.
