Plea to dismiss Puducherry Ministry

KARAIKAL: The Karaikal Struggle Group (KSG) that is demanding separate Union Territory status for Karaikal district in the Union Territory of Puducherry, has urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to take immediate steps to dismiss the Congress ministry headed by N.Rangasamy in Puducherry.

S.P.Selvashanmugham, lawyer and convenor of KSG, told The Hindu, on Tuesday that the decision was taken at the general body meeting of the KSG held here.

He said that the KSG had sent a memorandum to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil and Lt.Governor of Puducherry Govind Singh Gurjar. He said that the meeting requested the Centre to direct the Administrator sof Union Territory of Puducherry to send a report under Section 50 and 51 of Government Union Territory Act of 1963 as there was a failure of constitutional machinery.
