MADURAI: The Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry has urged the Southern Railways to halt all express trains at Koodal Nagar railway station. In a statement, chamber president S. Rethinavelu urged Divisional Railway Manager Anil Singhal to provide necessary facilities at the station. If passengers proceeding to northern parts of the district get down at Koodal Nagar, it would considerably decongest the Madurai railway junction and give relief to the burgeoning traffic on bridges over the Vaigai. The chamber also wanted the car parking area on the northern side of the junction to be expanded and approach roads to Koodal Nagar station re-laid. Mr. Rethinavelu requested the DRM to provide an escalator on the first platform of Madurai junction.
