Fr. Antony Kariyil, Manager of Rajagiri Public School, Kochi, inaugurating Vista cultural festival. The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) of Rajagiri Public School organised Vista, an annual inter-school arts and cultural festival. Choice School walked away with the overall trophy, scoring 55 points and Vishwajyothi CMI School, Angamaly, came second. Around 1,000 students from 25 schools in and around Kochi participated in the competitions. Vista 2008 proved to be a meeting ground where the intellectual and aesthetic skills, apart from social and inter-personal capabilities of the participants were put to the test. Freedom Quest contestBhavan’s Adarsha Vidyalaya, Kakkanad, emerged winners in the Freedom Quest competition organised by Al-Ameen Public School. The Navy Children School and Toc-H Public School won the second and third prizes. The events included extempore speeches, power-point presentations and patriotic songs. Basketball tourneyThe seventh all-Kerala inter-school Vishwajyothi Basket Ball Tournament will be conducted at the flood-lit stadium of Vishwajyothi CMI School, Angamaly, from October 3 to 6. The event will be on a league-cum-knock- out basis. For registration, call 2453544 or 2454034. Eco-clubs plannedThe main programme of the Leo Board (District 324 E4) of the Lions Club International is to start Eco-Clubs in all schools and colleges of the district. The eco-clubs will plant and protect trees on campuses and make and maintain gardens. The board will also organise seminars and workshops for improving the leadership skills of its members and enlighten teenagers about social evils. Wins Talco trophyThe Nava Nirman Public School won the Talco trophy for chess, organised by the YMCA for the third consecutive year. The competition was held on August 9 and 10. The Hindu NIE team
