Independence Day had film stars, sons of politicians hoisting the tricolour with a patriotic fervour
Promising son: N. Lokesh Naidu interacting with schoolchildren. HYDERABAD: It was a different Independence Day here on Friday when film stars and rising sons of politicians smitten by the patriotism bug suddenly jumped into the race to unfurl the national flag. ‘Megastar’, Chiranjeevi made his first public appearance and hoisted the tricolour at the party’s swank new office at Jubilee Hills “It was NCC which taught me discipline”, he said coyly taking the media persons by surprise . While film star hogged the limelight at the party office, his youngest brother, ‘power star’ Pavan Kalyan moved around the suburban areas like Quthbullapur and went on a flag-hoisting spree, making impromptu speeches. Both the star brothers added a touch of glamour to the otherwise staid I-Day proceedings. Not to be outdone, sons of senior political leaders made their debut too. N. Lokesh, son of the Telugu Desam party president, N. Chandrababu Naidu, unfurled the tricolour at the NTR Model School at Gandipet.. Mr. Lokesh, in his short address, greeted the students and said, “you are like a beacon. Spread the light to others.” He had a word of praise for his grandfather, NTR, for spreading the greatness of Telugus far and wide.
