3 college students killed in bus-tanker lorry collision

24 persons injured in the accident near Dharmapuri

MANGLED REMAINS: A private bus that collided with a tanker lorry in Matlampatti near Dharmapuri on Friday.

DHARMAPURI: Three college students were killed, and 24 persons sustained injuries, when a private bus in which they were travelling collided with a tanker lorry in Matlampatti village near here on Friday. The police said the bus was proceeding to Dharmapuri. Dhanasekaran (19) of Konganapuram, a second year student in an engineering college in Periyapatti, and Jeyakumar (17), a polytechnic college student, were killed on the spot. A total of 25 persons, including seven college students, sustained injuries and were rushed to Dharmapuri Government Medical College Hospital.

One of the injured, Premkumar (17), a student of an engineering college in Hosur, succumbed to wounds at the hospital. Among the injured, two were referred to Salem Government Medical College Hospital. Karimangalam police registered a case.
