Hindu Makkal Katchi members arrested

RAMANATHAPURAM: As many as 34 members of the Hindu Makkal Katchi (HMK) were arrested at Rameswaram on Friday while attempting to go to Kachatheevu for hoisting the national flag. The police secured them as soon as after they came out of the railway station.

Carrying placards, the agitators shouted slogans against the Sri Lankan Navy for targeting innocent fishermen. They said that they wanted to hoist the flag at Kachatheevu to draw the attention of the State, Central and Sri Lankan governments. — Special Correspondent
