Students to be trained in technology to fight terror

PALANPUR: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi unfurled the tricolour at the Independence Day celebrations here and announced a three-year age relaxation for competitive examinations to State government jobs. He promised to set up a “Security University” and a “Forensic Science University” in the State.

He castigated terrorism and reiterated his government’s resolve not to allow it to “flourish” in the State. He said terrorists were using modern technology and weaponry.

“We need to arm the security forces with similar knowledge and technology to match the terror groups.”

Mr. Modi said the “Security University” would be exclusively for those students who wanted to make protection of the State and the nation their profession. They would be trained in modern technology to fight terrorism.

The Chief Minister said the progress of the State had been opening up new job opportunities both in the public and the private sectors.

The age relaxation for competitive exams would go a long way in solving unemployment, he said.

The I-Day was also celebrated in various district headquarters, where Ministers hoisted the national flag and took the salute.
