JAIPUR: Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje made a slew of announcements for various sections, especially farmers and government employees, at the Independence Day function in Bikaner on Friday. Ms. Raje unfurled the tricolour and took the salute at a parade at the Karni Singh Stadium in the historic city. Addressing the gathering, Ms. Raje announced the introduction of a five-day week in all government offices from September 1 and an increase in the superannuation age of the staff in all Boards, corporations and autonomous bodies to 60 years on par with the government staff. The Chief Minister announced the upgradation of the Bikaner Municipal Council as a Corporation and the establishment of an integrated woollen textile park in the city on public-private partnership basis. Ms. Raje said the pension paid to freedom fighters would be shortly increased from Rs. 2,000 a month to Rs. 6,000. A separate department for Ayurveda and Indian systems of medicine would also be established in the State. She reiterated the State Government’s resolve to accord the highest priority to farmers’ interests.
