World gold slumps below $800/ounce


LONDON: Gold prices tumbled below $800 an ounce on Friday, hitting a ten-month low as the precious metal was hampered by strong U.S. currency and weak oil prices, analysts said. On the London Bullion Market, the price of gold slid to $772.98 an ounce.
