KOCHI: The title deeds for the fifty-six families in Edapally North and South villages, which were displaced for building rail connectivity for the proposed Vallarpadam International Container Transhipment Terminal, will be given on Saturday, District Collector M. Beena has said. Seventy-one families in Cheranalloor, and 15 in Mulavukadu are among total 144 families displaced for the rail connectivity. A total of 4.3 hectares have been acquired. Chief Minister V.S. Achutanandan will hand over the land acquired for the project on Saturday. For the four-lane road connectivity, 43.75 hectares has been acquired from 615 land owners in Mulavukadu, Kadamakudy, Cheranalloor and Thrikakkara North villages in Kanayanoor taluk and Varappuzha, Eloor and Kadungaloor villages in Paravur taluk. A total of 183 house were vacated. Those displaced from Moolampilly who have lost between one to five cents will get five cents and those who lost more than that will get 6 cents of land. Those displaced in other areas will get 4 cents. Cochin Port Trust will take follow-up action to provide job to one person each from displaced families in the project.
