More than 100 works collected from households are on display Lord Rama worshipping weapons in front of Chamundeshwari is on show BANGALORE: Some of the exceptional oil and mural and traditional paintings of the late Y. Subramanya Raju portraying the grandeur of the Mysore Dasara procession of olden times are going to be exhibited on the occasion of his birth centenary. The seven-day exhibition being organised by Chitrakala Parishath here from Sunday will feature a collection of Subramanya Raju’s works from the 1920s to the 1980s. Subramanya Raju has to his credit six wall panels out of 28 in the kalyana mantapa of the Mysore Palace. They include Nepath elephant, Mysore battalion, Coronation elephant, horse and palanquin, Lord Rama worshipping weapons in front of Goddess Chamundeshwari and horse and elephant pulling a carriage and an ambulance. “The works of Subramanya Raju were collected from households that owned them for the purpose of exhibition. “This opportunity of viewing more than 100 magnificent art works of his would not come once again,” said parishath general secretary M.J. Kamalakshmi. The former Chief Minister S.M. Krishna will inaugurate the exhibition and the section exhibiting the Mysore traditional paintings will be inaugurated by Chief Secretary Sudhakar Rao. The anniversary celebrations will be observed throughout the year by organising events such as seminars, workshops and film exhibition on Subramanya Raju’s paintings.
