Agrawal takes charge as UPSC head

NEW DELHI: D.P. Agrawal on Saturday took over as the Chairman, Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The oath of office and secrecy was administered by the outgoing Chairman of the Commission, Subir Dutta.

Professor Agrawal joined the Commission as Member in October 2003. Prior to joining the UPSC, he served the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, in various capacities from October 1975 to July 1994. Then he held positions in the Ministry of Human Resource Development till October 2003.

Professor Agrawal was the Founder-Director of the ABV – Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management, Gwalior, a first initiative of the Government of India.

He has almost 30 years of experience in the area of Teaching and Research (Engineering, Management and Information Technology), educational administration, and institutional planning and management.
