Rs. 15,000 to be spent on each couple Second phase of the programme on October 21 Kakinada: The Minorities Welfare (Wakf) Department will organise a mass marriage of poor Muslim girls on August 28, which entails an expenditure of Rs. 15,000 on each couple by the State Minorities Finance Corporation. A total sum of Rs. 4.25 crores was allocated for marriage of poor Muslim girls and Rs. 25 lakh for Christian mass marriage for the financial year 2008-09. Applications can be obtained from the District Wakf Officer and be submitted before August 20 along with the relevant certificates (white ration card or income certificate attested by mandal revenue officers and certificates from presidents/Imams to confirm the genuineness of the marriage). The second phase of these mass marriages will be organised on October 21, 2008, for which the applications have to be submitted before September 25, 2008. Applications can be obtained from the A.P State Wakf Board Office, Haj House, Hyderabad. Financial assistance of Rs. 15,000 will be extended for purchase of Quraan, Janimaz etc (Rs. 400), Lacha and Kalipoth worth 2 grams gold (Rs. 2,600), clothes for bride and bridegroom (Rs. 2,000), meals for 50 members from both sides (Rs. 3,000), utensils (Rs. 3,000), bed (Rs. 3,000) and Qazi fee and miscellaneous expenses (Rs. 1,000).
