Inquiry sought into Nirmiti Kendra’s work

Staff Correspondent

Belgaum: Activists of the Belgaum District Kannada Organisations’ Action Committee, including Karnataka Rakshna Vedike, have sought an inquiry by the Lokayukta into the construction works allotted to the Nirmiti Kendra, which had fixed the false ceiling at the Kumar Gandharava Ranga Mandir here.

The ceiling collapsed on Friday. Stern action should be taken against the contractor who had fixed the ceiling. The officials, who had sanctioned the work, besides giving quality certificate in favour of the contractor, should be suspended immediately, the activists demanded.

The activists staged a demonstration here on Saturday.

Submitting a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner G. Ravi Shankar, committee president Ashok Chandargi sought a third party inspection of the ceiling work.
