Chitradurga: Social Welfare Minister D. Sudhakar has said the Government plans to construct 300 new hostels for poor students. Chairing a meeting here on Saturday, he said the department had identified 100 acres of land in Hiriyur taluk to set up a vocational training centre for Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe students. The department would enter into an agreement with private agencies to offer job-oriented courses to students and ensure employment after training. “While Government will meet 75 per cent of the cost of training, private agencies will contribute 25 per cent,” he added.
