Two officials suspended on charge of dereliction of duty

Staff Correspondent

BIDAR: Bidar Deputy Commissioner Harsh Gupta on Saturday suspended Assistant Director of the Department of Women and Child Welfare Peddagannavar and District Child Development Officer Pundalik Rao Ittampalli on the charge of dereliction of duty.

Mr. Gupta said that the officials had been placed under suspension based on a report submitted by a team of five district-level officials constituted to look into the functioning of 60 anganwadi centres in Bidar city limits.

Mr. Gupta was speaking at a public interaction meeting held at his office.

Streetlights

Mr. Gupta said that streetlights would be installed on 15 prominent roads in the city within 15 days.

He asked officials of the Public Works Department and Bidar Zilla Panchayat to complete all pending road works within the stipulated time. Residents of Kamthana and Aurad (S) villages complained that the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme was not being implemented in their villages.

Chief Executive Officer of the zilla panchayat G.C. Prakash said he had received several complaints in this regard from residents of Aurad (S) village.

The gram panchayat secretary had been placed under suspension and steps would be taken to supersede the gram panchayat, he said.
